Best on the Central Coast is run by Roxane Pinault on the Central Coast, NSW. This policy explains how personal information is handled when you visit the website, suggest a business, make an enquiry, purchase a Sponsored page or sign up for a newsletter.
Information you give us
The suggestion form asks for your email address, the business name and your recommendation. Your name, suburb and category are optional. We also receive the information you include in correspondence and any business details, photos or other material you supply for a listing.
If you purchase a Sponsored page, checkout may collect contact, billing and payment information needed to process the order. Payment details are handled through the checkout and its payment provider.
How we use information
We use information to respond to enquiries, check recommendations, maintain listings, fulfil orders, keep business records and improve the website. Sending a suggestion or buying a page does not, by itself, sign you up for marketing emails.
Newsletters and Google sign-up
If you choose to sign up for our newsletter, we use your email address to send updates from Best on the Central Coast. Where Google Reader Revenue Manager is offered, Google processes the sign-up and makes your newsletter email address available to us. Google also handles information under its own Privacy Policy.
You can withdraw your newsletter consent at any time using the unsubscribe option in an email or by contacting us. Commercial emails will identify the sender and provide a way to unsubscribe. Unsubscribe requests will be actioned within five working days.
Website analytics and cookies
This website uses Squarespace and Google Analytics. These services may process information such as your IP address, browser, device, pages visited, referring website and interactions with the site. Cookies and similar technologies help the website function and help us understand how it is used.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings and use any cookie controls offered on the site. Blocking cookies may affect some features. You can also use Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Recommendations and published information
The directory brings together business recommendations and business information. A business name, recommendation count and relevant business details may be published. We do not publish the names of people posting in local groups, direct quotations from their posts or links to private group discussions. Please avoid sending unnecessary personal or sensitive information about yourself or anyone else.
Service providers and overseas processing
Information is processed through the services needed to run the site, including Squarespace for website hosting and forms, and Google for analytics and, where used, newsletter sign-up. Their infrastructure may process or store information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where they operate. Information may also be disclosed where required or authorised by law. A Sponsored page does not give an advertiser access to newsletter subscribers' contact details.
Keeping information
We keep information for the purpose for which it was collected and for any applicable record-keeping requirements. We review information when it is no longer needed and arrange deletion or de-identification where appropriate. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Access, corrections and privacy concerns
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, request a correction or deletion, or raise a privacy concern with Roxane through the contact form. Enter “Privacy enquiry” in the business-name field and explain your request in the message. We may need to verify your identity before releasing personal information. We aim to respond to privacy concerns within 30 days.
If a concern remains unresolved, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, where the matter is within its jurisdiction.
