Kids’ birthday parties on the Central Coast

With a daughter of my own, I’m forever saving birthday party ideas she’d love: somewhere to run around with her friends, something creative to try, or a little adventure that feels special.

There’s plenty to think about before the invitations go out, especially when you’re trying to find something that suits your child, your budget and the number of friends coming along. I hope this makes the search a little easier.

You’ll find a mix of my own picks and places other locals have recommended, with a count of how often each one came up. Businesses recommending themselves don’t count.

Kids’ birthday parties in Calga

Walkabout Wildlife Sanctuary

Named by locals · 2 mentions

For children who love animals, Walkabout offers ranger-led birthday adventures in the bush. Choose a Cuddly Critters, Reptile Rampage or Wild Walkabout experience, with entry and a two-hour adventure included in the standard party. You can bring a picnic or ask about catering. Balloons aren’t allowed because they can harm the animals.

Kids’ birthday parties in Jilliby

The Giving Farm

Named by locals · 1 mention

The Giving Farm offers private birthday bookings on its family-run farm, with animal experiences and seasonal pick-your-own events. Ask which activities are available for your date; the farm opens for booked experiences rather than every day.

Kids’ birthday parties in Somersby

Australian Reptile Park

Named by locals · 3 mentions

The Australian Reptile Park has wildlife shows, a playground and bushland picnic areas, plus birthday packages for children aged 3–15. The Hugo package includes entry, food and a party area, while the Elvis package adds a private keeper tour with animal encounters. For a simpler celebration, you can bring your own food and use the park’s barbecues; admission still applies.

Kids’ birthday parties in West Gosford

Gosford RSL

♥ My friend’s pick

Gosford RSL has plenty of room to spread out, plus Sprouts, a free, enclosed indoor playground where the kids can climb, slide and explore. A friend recommended it for a get-together, and we all had pizzas there, which went down really well. Good for a relaxed birthday meal with room for the kids to play.

Kids’ birthday parties in Woy Woy

Woy Woy Hotel

♥ My pick

Woy Woy Hotel worked really well for us when we wanted a more affordable celebration. We ordered a sweet grazing board there and everyone loved it. Worth a look if you want to get everyone together without spending too much.

At-home parties & entertainers who come to you

Reptile on the Go

♥ My pick

We had Reptile on the Go at our wedding, and they were next level. My daughter loved Hazel the python, and all the kids had a turn meeting the animals. Seeing how much the children enjoyed it, I’d book them for an animal-loving birthday child too.

Kym the Reptile Man

Named by locals · 1 mention

Kym brings a reptile encounter to your party, so children can meet the animals without the group travelling to a wildlife park. When you book, ask which animals he’ll bring, what ages suit, and how much space he needs.

An animal-themed outing in Kotara, Newcastle

Blackbutt Reserve

Named by locals · 1 mention

Blackbutt’s wildlife exhibits are free to visit, with koalas, wombats, kangaroos and native birds to see. At the Carnley Avenue end of the reserve there’s an adventure playground, picnic tables and free electric barbecues, so it works well for a birthday picnic. Parking is paid, and shelters can be hired if you want a reserved space.
