If you’d prefer a pub catch-up to a set luncheon package, Woy Woy Hotel is welcoming race-day groups from 11am. Dress up if you fancy it, meet your friends and settle in for the afternoon, with lucky door prizes and sweeps on the day.

If your idea of Cup Day involves a good lunch and time to catch up with friends, Ocean’s first Melbourne Cup celebration is one for the list. You’ll be welcomed with a spritz before sitting down to a two-course Italian banquet by the water, with live entertainment through the afternoon and the race on a big screen.

Your ticket includes: roaming canapés, food stations and a three-hour beverage package from 12pm to 3pm, plus entry to the best-dressed competition.

Bringing a group? A beachfront cabana package is listed at $2,500 for 12 guests. It includes 12 event tickets, the food and beverage package, a magnum of Piper-Heidsieck and a charcuterie board.

Little Miss is giving Cup Day the red-carpet treatment, with a spritz on arrival and a photographer ready to capture everyone in their race-day outfits. There’s a media wall for photos and prizes for the best dressed, so it’s a lovely excuse to wear something special.
