Best Hairdressers on the Central Coast
Going to the hairdresser is the bit of self-care I make time for. I see Leksi at Golden Mane and tend to stick with her, though other names often come up when locals ask where to book. I’ve gathered those salons here, with details about their services to help you decide which one to try.

Umina Beach
Golden Mane
Leksi did my hair for my wedding, so you can probably guess how much I trust her. I’ve also been to Golden Mane for colour, cuts, foils and treatments, as well as the occasional blow-dry. The team listens to what I’m asking for and gives advice when I’m unsure. My daughter loves going too.
It’s a beautiful salon on West Street, with a particular focus on lived-in colour: softer colour that’s intended to look natural as it grows out.

Cuts, styling and extensions are also available. She puts hair condition at the centre of her approach, so it’s worth talking through what your hair can manage if you’re considering a big colour change.
Finding it: The address is 123 Barrenjoey Road, but you enter through the laneway off Palm Street.

Children’s and teen haircuts are available, as are men’s cuts.
Where: Shop 2/197 The Round Drive, Avoca Beach. Prices are confirmed after a consultation, so check the cost of your appointment before the work begins.
Gosford
JK’s Hair Lounge
Named in local groups · 2 mentionsJane Kelly worked in Sydney’s North Shore salons before bringing her hairdressing business to the Coast. At JK’s in Gosford, her recent work includes blonde highlights and caramel tones, with style cuts and conditioning treatments. Some treatments include a scalp massage.
Jane offers one-to-one appointments with quiet time if you prefer a less busy salon visit. Check the address when you book, as the public listings don’t all show the same location.
